Totney Benson is an experienced real estate expert and longtime area resident with a diverse professional background – making her the ideal choice for savvy buyers and sellers in the evolving marketplace. She serves as exclusive representative for RB Benson & Company, an established Fairfield County builder, known for forward-thinking design and construction with a special emphasis on fine luxury residences. As part of her role with the Benson organization, Totney lends her keen insights as consultant through all aspects of the design-build process – from site study and land acquisition, to conceptual planning of the layouts and finish selections.
Prior to embarking on her dynamic real estate career, Totney served in numerous executive roles with Touche Ross Consulting Services, General Foods, and the Nestle Company – all with a focus on financial analysis/management, marketing, and new product development. Locally, Totney partnered with a well-known artist to co-found Onion Hill Designs over a decade ago, to design, produce, and market a product line of note and greeting cards currently available throughout the Northeast.
She earned her B.S. in Retailing & Design from Carnegie Mellon and an M.B.A. in Finance & Marketing from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. She brings unique perspective to the real estate transaction, where clients who are purchasing or selling their largest investments can benefit from her invaluable expertise. Among her strengths: organization, coordination of details, love of homes both antique and new, ability to read floor plans and understand traffic flow, creative & practical approaches to problem solving.
Outside of her professional life, Ms. Benson has resided in Westport for 29 years with her husband Rick where together they’ve raised their son RB who was educated in the local school system. She is involved with various local community organizations, including Project Return’s annual Birdhouse Auction, the Westport Historical Society, Compo Beach Playground, Westport Young Woman’s League, Creative Arts Festival, and the PTA.
